To Install a driver downloaded from the Pentax website:
1. Extract all files from the downloaded ZIP file to a folder on your computer. Refer to this folder as <folder>.
2. Follow instructions below, beginning with using the Auto Install method.
3. When following instructions below, use <folder> instead of <CD Drive> and <My Computer> instead of <CD>
To install driver from the Installation CD:
Method 1: To Install Using “Auto Install” program (PJ2-Install-Win9xMeNT.exe):
1. Place the Installation CD into <CD Drive>
2. Using Windows Explorer, browse the CD to find the folder: <CD Drive>:\PJ2\WinNT4
3. Double-click “PJ2-Install-Win9xMeNT.exe”
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to setup the printer as desired
5. To customize the printer settings to non-default behavior, refer to links below regarding Custom Features.
Note: If the “auto install” program is unable to locate the Microsoft Universal Printer Driver files on your computer, a message will appear requesting the use of the Add Printer Wizard. In this case, refer to the following instructions for using the “Add Printer Wizard” to install the driver.
Method 2: To Install using “Add Printer Wizard”:
1. Place the PocketJet II Installation CD into CD drive
2. Choose StartMenu:Settings:Printers
3. Double-click "Add Printer"
4. Select "My Computer"
5. Click "Next"
6. Select Port, most likely "LPT1:", and click "Next"
7. Choose "Have Disk..."
8. Choose "Browse", select "<CD Drive>:\PJ2\WINNT4" directory, "PJIINT.INF", "Open" and "OK".
9. The screen now should display the available Printer Models:
¨ "Pentax PocketJet II-Sheet Paper"--Select this option for use with Pentax cutsheet paper. This option uses “Fixed Page” form feed mode.
¨ "Pentax PocketJet II-Roll Paper"--Select this option for use with Pentax Roll Paper. The advantage of using this option is to save paper by using only the amount needed for the print job. This option uses “No Feed” form feed mode, and the “extra feed” is set to 1 inch.
¨ "Pentax PocketJet II-Roll Paper 2”--This option is similar to the Roll Paper model, except it uses a larger value for the “extra feed” as requested by a particular customer.
¨ "Pentax PocketJet II-Roll Paper Infinite"--Select this option for printing long continuous data streams without a page break. Examples of this include printing a geological recording or a polygraph test.
¨ "Pentax PocketJet II-Perforated Roll Paper"--Select this option for use with Pentax Perforated Roll Paper. This option gives the user the advantages of having a paper feeder. This option uses the “End of Page” form feed mode.
When the desired printer model is selected, click "Next".
NOTE: To use multiple types of paper (for example, using both sheet paper and roll paper), run the installation program again and select a different model during this step (#9). After all desired printer models are installed, there will be multiple printers to choose from when using your printing application software, so choose the appropriate printer model depending on the paper type being used.
10. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to set up the printer as desired.
11. A prompt will now be given to insert the Windows NT diskettes.
a) Choose OK, otherwise the installation will be cancelled.
b) Follow the actions below based on the appropriate “case”:
Case 1: Windows NT installation diskettes or CD-ROM are available:
i) Insert diskette or CD into the appropriate drive.
ii) In the text box, select the correct directory where the requested file is located (example, A:\i386, where A: specifies the drive that contains either your NT installation diskettes or CD-ROM)
iii) Click OK. (If this does not work, choose "Browse" to find the directory where the requested file is located).
Case 2: Windows NT installation diskettes or CD-ROM are NOT available, but the needed files are already on the system:
i) Choose “Skip File” three times for each of the RasDD files being installed
Case 3: Windows NT installation diskettes or CD-ROM are NOT available, and the needed files are NOT already on the system:
12. If "Print Test Page" has been chosen in Step #10 the printer should now be printing IF the PocketJet is connected to the output device, the printer is turned on, and paper has been inserted into the printer
13. To customize the printer settings to non-default behavior, refer to links below regarding Custom Features.
To Uninstall:
1. Choose Start:Settings:Printers.
2. Click once on the Pentax PocketJet II icon to highlight it.
3. Choose File:Delete, and click OK when prompted to remove the files.
(Some files and system settings will remain on the computer after doing this. To completely remove all files and settings, contact Pentax Technical Support.)
