NT’s “Universal Print Driver” (RASDD) is not as flexible as the UNIDRV on other Windows platforms and therefore does not have the same behavior as other drivers. Pentax has created a method to access some of the custom features by using separate “models”. The various models are chosen during driver installation. Each installation will allow the choice of one mode. Multiple choices of models require multiple installations with a different model chosen each time.
1. The "Sheet Paper" model factory sets the "Form Feed Mode" to "Fixed Page Mode".
2. The "Roll Paper" model factory sets the "Form Feed Mode" to "No Feed Mode" and the "No Feed Mode Extra Feed" to 300.
3. The "Roll Paper 2" model factory sets the "Form Feed Mode" to “No Feed Mode" and the "No Feed Mode Extra Feed" to 575 for a particular customer that needed a larger value of “extra feed”.
4. The “Roll Paper Infinite” model is specifically for use in cases that require printing long streams of continuous data on Roll Paper, such as a geological recording or a polygraph test. It uses the “Infinite” paper size and factory sets the form feed mode to “No Feed Mode” and the “Extra Feed” to 300.
5. The “Perforated Roll Paper” model is specifically for use with perforated roll paper only. It uses the “End of Page” form feed mode to search for the black mark on the paper when each page is ejected. It also provides special new paper sizes, “PerfLetter” and “PerfA4”, which have modified the printable area of the page corresponding to behavior while printing with this paper.
6. If you need to use both Sheet Paper and Roll Paper, run the installation twice and select the other model the second time. In this case "replace the existing driver" does NOT need to be selected. Either model can be set as the "default" printer via Control Panel:Printers, and either can be selected from an application's "Print Setup".
7. The Default Density setting (and page sizes and a few other things) can be modified by using StartMenu:Settings:Printers, selecting "Pentax PocketJet II", and selecting "Document Defaults."
8. Custom features (including Density and Printer Model) and other settings can be accessed using an application's "Print Setup:Options" or "Print:Printers:Options". Changes made here will be temporary.
