General Information

This web page contains the most current Windows drivers and application software available for the DSmobile600 scanner. You may need to download and install this software if you have recently upgraded to Windows Vista.

Available Solutions

The following solutions are available for download. Be sure you download the driver package that is appropriate for your system.

Solution Information

Driver Package: Each "Driver Package" (both 32 and 64-bit) contains the following drivers:
  • USB Driver - provides low-level interface between Windows drivers and scanner hardware
  • WIA Driver - provides scanning capability and compatibility with any WIA-compliant scanning application, such as Paint and Windows Photo Gallery.
  • TWAIN Driver - provides scanning capability and compatibility with any TWAIN-compliant application program. The TWAIN driver allows a user to control all scanning details and settings.
  • The driver packages available for download resolve problems with Windows Vista. If you have recently upgraded to Windows Vista (32-bit), we recommend that you download and install this driver update unless you have CD version 1.2 or higher. If you have recently upgraded to Windows Vista (64-bit), we recommend that you download and install this driver update unless you have CD version 1.3 or higher.
DSmobileSCAN II Application:
  • This TWAIN-compliant application allows a scanned document to be automatically saved as Adobe® PDF files, JPEG files, or TIFF files. An added feature is the ability to initiate a scan using the DSmobile 600 scanner button. This software is fully compatible with Windows Vista.
  • This software was originally released on CD version 1.2. The version available for download here has fixed some problems with the CD 1.2 version. We recommend that you download and install this software update.
  • If you have the original version of DSmobileSCAN supplied on CD version 1.0 or 1.1, we recommend that you download and install this software upgrade. The original version from CD 1.0 is NOT compatible with Windows Vista.
Presto PageManager® Version 7 Application:
  • This document management program is available on your Driver CD only; it is NOT available for download. To install PageManager, browse to the CD root directory, find the PageManager 7 folder, open it and double-click on the Setup.exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to the "help" file included with this program for further use instructions.
  • We recommend that you install this software if you need a document management system to catalogue and save scanned documents.

DSmobile 600 Driver Package - Windows Vista 32-Bit, XP, 2000, ME, 98SE

This driver package supports Windows Vista 32-Bit, XP, 2000, ME, and 98SE (second edition). Win 98 (first edition) is not supported, and supports USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 (High Speed) for best performance. It is also compatible with USB 1.1 (at a slower speed).

Note: For Vista 32-bit users only: If you have already purchased a DSmobile 600, your installation disc may not be suitable for use on your Vista operating system. If you do not have version 1.1 or higher installation disc, you will need to download the driver below. PageManager 7.0 scanning software included on the CD is compatible with 32-bit Windows Vista, but if you wish to use the DSmobileSCAN II scanning software you will need to download the version available here.

Installing DSmobile 600 Driver on Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE Systems

  1. Download the self-extracting executable file to your PC or copy it to a CD for installation on another PC.
  2. Double Click on the resulting executable, DSMobile600-32bitDriver-CD12.exe
  3. When the program runs, select the directory where you want to place the driver installation files, and choose "Unzip". By default, this folder will be C:\BROTHER\DSMOBILE600\DRIVER\WIN32
  4. In the folder selected in step 3, double-click the Setup.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions Note: Choose "complete" at the "Setup Type" screen.

  5. Connect the DSmobile 600 scanner to your PC USB port.
  6. Press the button on the top of the scanner. This will display a "Scan Button" screen
  7. The “Scan Button” screen displays a list of installed software programs that support scanning using the Pentax DSmobile 600 scanner.

    		  

  8. Choose the software program you wish to use.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions for calibration and scanning. See the DSmobile 600 User's Guide for information on setting scanning parameters.

DSmobile 600 Driver Package - Windows Vista 64-bit

Note: If you have already purchased a DSmobile 600, your installation disc may not be suitable for use on your Vista 64 bit operating system. If you do not have version 1.1 or higher installation disc, you will need to download the driver below. PageManager 7.0 scanning software included on the CD is compatible with 64-bit Windows Vista, but if you wish to use the DSmobileSCAN II scanning software you will need to download the version available here.

Installing DSmobile 600 Vista 64-bit Driver on Windows Vista Systems

Installing DSmobile SCAN II on any Windows System

  1. Download the DSmobileSCAN_II_v2.0.2.exe file to your PC or copy it to a CD for installation on another PC.
  2. Double click the executable file
  3. Once a language is selected the Setup program will open. Follow the on-screen step by step instructions. Note: Choose "complete" at the "Setup Type" screen.


  4. Once you have finished installing DSmobileSCAN II, you can access the program by pressing the button on top of the scanner, or, by clicking the DSmobileSCAN II icon on your desktop

  • Memory: 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM for Windows XP & Vista)
